Industrial Engineers with Process Understanding!

Understanding operational processes is a central key competence of successful managers. If the structures and the behavior of processes are unknown, neither your professional nor your leadership skills can develop. Only when you become aware of how the operational resources are related to the tasks in the service processes does the desire for added value become a reality.
We convey this awareness to our industrial engineers at the Institute for Technical Management (ITB) at Münster University of Applied Sciences. You learn to identify, understand, and evaluate processes. We rely on “model-based process management”. Modern tools like iGrafx help us with this. We have been using this application successfully for years when it comes to our students mapping and simulating operational processes in companies.
Now, in the Corona year of 2020, it was not possible, as is usual, for students to carry out a consulting assignment with practice partners. Nevertheless, it was important to us that the future managers test the use of IT tools, including iGrafx.
The task of one of ten student teams was to develop a training course on how to use iGrafx and to carry it out to fellow students. In this context, it was necessary to develop a business case and to put it into a training concept. The five students did an excellent job. They are now prepared to use the tool in their first job in such a way that they can develop a comprehensive understanding of the process for themselves and help fellow colleagues. The other students trained by the iGrafx team are also now able to successfully take their first steps with the application.
We thank iGrafx for the support!
